Access Levels Explained

When you invite users to shared folders, you can control their level of access:

  • View: Allows members to preview and download files only
  • Edit: Allows invited members to view, add, modify, and delete files
  • Manage: Allows invited members to edit and reshare files with others

Fair Sharing

Fair sharing means the folder takes space only from the folder owner's account:

Example: John invites Jane to a Shared folder. When Jane uploads files to this folder, it will take space only from John's account, not Jane's.

Fair sharing applies for all pCloud plans (Basic, Premium, and Business).

Sharing Limits

pCloud has limits to prevent abuse when sharing folders with "Invite to folder":

Daily Sharing Limits

  • Free and Premium plans: Share folders up to 150 times per day
  • Business plans: Unlimited folder sharing every day

Folder Size Limits

  • Basic accounts: Share folders with up to 25,000 subfolders or 150,000 files
  • Premium/Business accounts: Share folders with up to 50,000 subfolders or 300,000 files

Note: If a Premium/Business user shares a folder with a Basic user, the limits for Basic accounts apply.

Cross-Region Collaboration

You can invite users from various countries to collaborate on your folders, but there are important considerations:

  • All users must have accounts registered on the same set of servers (EU or US)
  • You cannot collaborate on shared folders stored in a different data region
  • Geographical location doesn't affect collaboration, but data region does

Alternative for Different Data Regions

If you want to collaborate with people from a different data region:

  1. Share a link to the folder instead of using "Invite to folder"
  2. Turn on the Upload setting in the link settings
  3. Allow pCloud users to upload files via the link
  4. Uploaded files will appear in your folder

Accepting Folder Invitations

When someone invites you to a shared folder:

  1. You'll receive an invitation email
  2. Click the link in the email
  3. Log in to your pCloud account
  4. Accept the invitation
  5. The folder will appear in your Shared with Me section

Viewing Shared Folders

Access folders that others have shared with you:

  1. Open pCloud Drive Preferences or my.pCloud
  2. Go to Shares > Shared With Me
  3. View all folders shared with you
  4. See the rights you have for those shares

Saving Files from Shared Folders

You can save files from the "Shared with me" directory to your own pCloud:

  • Copy files from shared folders to your personal folders
  • Files you copy will count toward your own storage quota
  • Original files remain in the shared folder
