This article explains how file editing works in pCloud across different platforms.

Overview


File Editing in pCloud describes how files can be modified depending on the app and device you are using. Editing capabilities differ between web, mobile, and desktop environments.

  • Desktop (pCloud Drive): Editing is handled by installed software and is generally widely compatible with most third-party apps.

  • Documents can be edited directly in pCloud using built-in editing tools.
  • Supported document types can be opened and modified without leaving the app.
  • Photos can also be edited directly within the pCloud web app!
  • Utilize built-in photo editing options such as cropping, rotating, filters, and basic adjustments.


How to Edit a File (Web):

1. Navigate to the file: Open the pCloud web app and locate the file you want to edit.

2. Open the file: Double-click the file to open it in the preview pane.

3. Edit the file:

* Documents: Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) to begin editing.

* Photos: Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) to open the photo editor. Adjust settings as desired.

4. Save Changes: Click "Save" to save your changes.

  • The pCloud desktop app does not include built-in file editing tools.
  • Files can be edited directly through pCloud Drive.
  • To edit files, compatible editing software must be installed on your computer.
  • When a file is opened from pCloud Drive, it uses the installed app, and changes are saved automatically back to pCloud.

How to Edit a File (Desktop):

1. Locate the file: Open pCloud Drive on your computer and locate the file you want to edit.

2. Open with Application: Right-click the file and select "Open with" followed by the application you want to use to edit it (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop).

3. Edit the file: Make your changes using the chosen application.

4. Save the file: Save the file within the application. The changes will automatically sync to pCloud.

  • Documents can be edited directly in pCloud using built-in editing tools.
  • Supported document types can be opened and modified without leaving the app.
  • Photos can also be edited directly within the pCloud mobile app!
  • Utilize built-in photo editing options such as cropping, rotating, filters, and basic adjustments.

2. Open the file: Tap the file to open it.

3. Edit the file:

* Photos: Tap the "Edit" button (pencil icon) to open the photo editor. Adjust settings as desired.

4. Save Changes: Tap "Save" or "Done" to save your changes.
