Choosing & Changing Data Regions
Data regions refer to the geographic location where your files and personal data are stored. pCloud gives you control over where your data resides, allowing you to choose the region that best suits your privacy and compliance needs.
Note: The option to select a data region is gradually being introduced globally. Not all regions may be available in all countries yet.
Available Data Regions
pCloud currently offers two data regions:
- European Union (EU): Data stored in EU data centers
- United States (US): Data stored in US data centers
What Data is Stored in Your Chosen Region
When you select a data region, the following information is stored there:
- All files and folders you upload to pCloud
- Personal data generated when using pCloud services
Privacy Policy
For detailed information about what personal data is collected, read the pCloud Privacy Policy.
Compliance Considerations
Choosing your data region can help you comply with local data protection regulations such as GDPR (EU) or other regional privacy laws.

Data Regions for Family & Business Accounts
For Family Accounts:
Only the Family plan owner can request to move the entire family to a different data region.
For Business Accounts:
Only the Business account owner can request to move the entire business to a different data region.
Single Data Region Storage
Once you choose a data region, all your files and data will be stored there. You cannot split your data across multiple regions within the same account.
Cross-Region Collaboration
Invite to Folder:
You can only share folders with the "Invite to folder" option with pCloud users who are in the same data region as you.
Alternative for Cross-Region Sharing:
If you want to collaborate with users from a different data region:
- Open my.pCloud.com and select the folder
- Click Share > Share Link
- Turn on the Upload setting
- Choose whether any pCloud user with the link can upload, or only specific users
- Save your changes and share the link
This allows users from different data regions to upload files to your folder without full collaboration access.
